Good Monday Morning

As we head into another week, a thought to set the tone; “It ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done. Now if you know what you’re worth, go out and get what you’re worth.”

We had Confederation run last week. He ran a really good 2nd coming from last to only just be beaten. That brings us to 3 runs for 2023 so far which have finished 3rd, 4th, 2nd, not too shabby for a start to the year with only 1 horse to run, who has now also headed for a short winter rest. We decided to rest our yard this winter for the summer as we don’t have many horse and have to look after what we have and focus on the summer, so I’m very happy with where we are. It would ideally be better to have a few winter horses and hopefully we will keep building up and growing the yard. We still haven’t even been operating for a year yet, so in reflection, it’s amazing how far we’ve come.

Talking of expanding, it’s the Tattersalls February Horses In Training Sale this week on Thursday and Friday, so get in touch and join us.

I am selling 50% in Expressionless who will be fun this season having had a good break after a few really good runs as a 2 year old. The new owner will get a 100% of the owners raceday badges and he will run in your colours should you wish. This is a great deal in a horse who will run in the spring and summer and is also already popular among middles eastern buyers, but I want to keep him for a while longer yet to race here for me.

Our syndicate Catch Us If You Can Racing is a fantastic way of getting into ownership and sharing the costs. There is a great bunch of people involved and you’ll make many friend to enjoy the horseracing with you. Catch Us If You Can Racing has shares in a son of the amazing Starspangledbanner, Battleofbaltimore £350 per 2.5% and £75pm all in. They also have shares available in a leased option with no upfront costs and £75pm all in the popular and amazing Empress Lulu. Both are lovely types and worth getting involved in.

It was interesting to see the Racing Debate on SkySportsRacing is coming to an end. I always enjoyed the show and it provided good healthy arguments and food for thought. Always good for the game.

On that note, if you have any free time, log on to Netflix and watch “Bank Of Dave” a great true story, and I personally follow the actual Dave on tiktok, he’s a real success story and it’s a story currently live and living.

There was some world class international racing over the past weekend and Hong Kong’s super horse Golden Sixty showed his class and won one of the most exciting races I’ve seen for a while. The commentary was brilliant and if you have not seen it, go and find it on YouTube. In South Africa Jet Dark won The Met which is a great race and he’s been on top of the world in SA for a while and retires to stud there now. Cheltenham trials were interesting and I felt they left me personally with more questions than answers for the real deal in March and I’m excited to be attending the first day at least.

Things at HQ are already picking up as we see more and more horses return from their breaks and the town is getting equine busier daily. Another month and the vibe really heightens in Newmarket and you want to be involved and around for that, so get in touch and get involved. Exciting times ahead for 2023.

To end today’s blog, a thought from Elvis; “The world is a stage and each must play their part…”
