Good Morning

As always, to start… A great horse will change your life; a truly special one defines it.

Wishing a happy Eid Mubarak to everyone who celebrates, which begins today and ends tomorrow.

It is also a bank holiday today in the UK and I hope you’re all enjoying a day off.

Our first runner, Mr Fayez ran last Thursday at Chelmsford and it was lovely to be back on the racecourse with a runner. He ran a creditable 5th place running on all the way to the line. I expected a first 3 finish but it was good to see him finding all the way and not stopping and fading out. I don’t mind my horses running on, but it’s complete dislike seeing them fading out, so I was happy with that. The jockey says he wants further which I’ve always thought but it was a good starting point. I’ve also emailed the handicapper for a little drop in ratings for him as he was the only maiden in the field giving weight to 3-5 time winners. He behaved really well which was good as he can be a handful but my team were brilliant and kept it together. All in all a very positive and respectable start. We just need a few more horses to run. I should give Chelmsford a mention, so accommodating and a lovely course for a evening out. Friendly staff and they really do all they can for an great owner experience.

I’ve had a few interviews this week, firstly from “Tommo” Derek Thomson at Chelmsford which was fun and entertaining and then from Laura King for Dubai Racing TV which was a nice gesture from her to try and help me get my name out there. I will try and get the links for both and post it on social media if I can.

The Sales were a blank for us again and hopefully we get some support in the UK soon for the up coming sales as we need to grow our yard to be more competitive.

It was a great weekends racing at HQ with a 3 day festival of racing including the first 2 classics of the season, the 2000 & 1000 Guineas. I attended both days and it was magnificent to see the crowds back and the jaw dropping racehorses on show. Well done to James Doyle for doing the Guineas double, both great rides and well done to George Boughey and Charlie Appleby who prepped their horses magnificently. It was great to watch and I think the 2000 Guineas will prove to be one of the strongest in history. I honestly think the first 8 could be Gr1 winners anywhere.

And I leave you with this thought for the week; a racehorse is the only animal that can take several thousand people for a ride at the same time.
