Blog Seventy Two

Good Monday Morning

To start the week off, a thought and attitude to take you into it; “Your kindness and compassion are like waves. The impact goes farther and is greater than you think. Keep kindness in motion…”

Last week Racing TV featured a lovely few minute clip on our yard in the UK. If you haven’t seen it, you will find it on Racing TV’s YouTube channel. When I watch that, I realize how far we’ve come in the last 12 months, and how much more work is ahead of us over the next 12 months, but it’s exciting times in the yard.

When you join us, you can expect weekly video and text updates directly from me, a open yard policy where you can visit your horse any day of the week, the best team looking after your horse, after sales service, we are there to make your racing experience as best and fun as possible, exciting results, the best communication in the industry and transparency and the highest ambition to reach the top level. We have run at over a 20% plus strike rate all season. YOU KNOW WHERE TO BE SENDING HORSES THIS AUTUMN AND WHAT TEAM TO GO TO THE SALES WITH.

Pedigree_to_win Luiz Cunha studies those catalogues as they come out and finds the value for our clients. It’s a lot of hard work and years of experience, makes us the exciting and logical place to be. Join us! We will be at ALL the sales.

We were recently sent Dirtyoldtown by Craig Miller. Craig is a new owner with the yard though Craig’s son has shares in horses with us through Quest. Dirtyoldtown had the look of a promising handicapper early last season but has lost his way somewhat. A change of scenery and a different training regime with us will hopefully get him back on track. I’d like to think we’ll have him back on a course by the end of the turf season. He’s dropped down the handicap and is on a winning mark if we get him back in love with the game and healthy.

We recently purchased Clipsham Gold, who was sold out within the hour, and look forward to getting her going. She is another new recruit to the yard as we explained last week.
Moliwood is also on the way back and he’s another we hope will be running before the curtain falls on the turf season. Moliwood looks amazing but we are taking it very easy with him as we build him up ready for his return to the track.
Expressionless will also be running towards the back end of the turf season when the ground turns in his favour. I’d like to try him over 10f before next season. The dual winner has more races in him and like our stable star Silver Sword will be even better next season.

Those of you who follow American Racing will have heard of Secretariat regardless of your age. The 1973 Triple Crown winner is the horse American greats are compared with. If you’ve not heard of him Google him and watch him completing the Triple Crown in The Belmont. Big Red as he was known won by a staggering 31 lengths - that’s not a typo - Yes thirty one lengths!! Note the colours, as I am delighted to say the next time you see Silver Sword on the track, his jockey Greg Cheyne will be proudly wearing the Secretariat silks! It’s really exciting to have new owners join us as we grow into the future.

We’ve had 2 runners since the last blog. Mr Fayez just missed the break @ Wolves and was then struggling with the kick back & he never got involved at the business end. He will be back.
Military Micki made his racecourse debut at Nottingham on Friday. He was a little free early doors but showed promise despite finishing well beat at the line. Next time we’ll settle him and you’ll see a vastly improved performance.

This week Ace Rothstein heads to Sandown on Wednesday with Kyle Strydom riding him. He’s also in the Racing League event at Yarmouth on Thursday but is unlikely to be selected. I’d intended running Gold Medal at Wolverhampton on Tuesday but I’m not 100% happy with him so he will miss his engagement & I’ll wait until he is showing me he is ready to do himself justice.
Battleofbaltimore will take his chance at Lingfield on Wednesday. We are dropping him down to 5f and expect him to improve on his first two efforts where he finished 3rd and 2nd - he’ll have to as this looks a deep entry at the 6 day stage but he is improving with every run.
Faro de San Juan like Ace has an entry in the Racing League. Faro is absolutely bouncing ; we’ve got him back to his best and not only should manager Micky Quinn select him, he should use him as his joker for the extra points for our team ‘ The North ‘! Faro won’t let you down Micky, Pick him Mate!! To be fair on form you wouldn’t select him, but as I say he’s in rude health and will run a PB for me. Faro is also in at HQ on Saturday as a Plan B, but Yarmouth is very much preferred.
Havana Smoke makes his racecourse debut at Newmarket on Friday night. On Wednesday he worked well on the Al Bahathri and a wet week wouldn’t bother him. Like all my babies he’s ready to go but it’s very much a steep learning curve. You don’t get your degree on your first day at school and it’s very much the same with our 2yo’s.

There is the last few shares available in Wannabeawallaby with Catch Us If You Can Racing. He is the last horse with shares left in him in the yard and looks to be an exciting horse for the future. He is by Australia out of Yeah Baby By Danehill Dancer. Shares are £605 per 2.5% and £75pm all in. I highly recommend getting in touch with Andrew.

As we expand into the future, we are still seeking a sponsor to partner with our yard and grow our brands together. There are lots of exciting opportunities for a forward thinking innovative brand.

A thought to close todays blog; “The storms will make you a skilled sailor!”
