Blog Fifty Seven
Good Easter Monday Morning
To start Monday off; “Passion creates progress!”
Happy Easter to you all. I hope you had a fantastic weekend. For most of us at the yard, we were flat out working, keeping it all going for the season ahead.
We had another fantastic week last week with 1 runner, 1 winner. Expressionless who I recently advertised 50% for sale, won at Nottingham. His new part owner Chris Housego was on course and we had a fantastic afternoon. Expressionless was well supported from 7/1 to 6/5 and enjoyed the soft ground. He should go further and with a bit of luck and a wet summer, we will still have a lot of fun with him.
Expressionless was another shrewd purchase by our pedigree expert @pedigree_to_win Luiz Cunha, there aren’t many around that can find yearlings on pedigree that can run, with no budget at all and at the bottom of the market.
Kyle Strydom, former South African Champion Apprentice and now jockey riding in the UK has had two rides for us, finishing 4th at 50/1 and 1st at 6/5. He’s ridden two lovely calm patient races for us and I really hope he gets a little more support here as he is talented and works really hard.
Our yard continues it’s good form, with 7 runners in 2023 so far which 2 have won and ALL the others have been in the first 4.
This week we have no planned runners and it gets busier for us the week after.
This coming Sunday is Dylan Cunha Racing Open Day, supported by Catch Us If You Can Racing and Quest Thoroughbreds. Our yard is open from 10am to 2pm and we look forward to welcoming you. Parking will be on Snailwell Drive or at Tesco or Waitrose and just walk up to the yard.
I keep advertising the amazing facilities we train on at HQ and that both our winners came back after a long rest and won first time up, showcasing and highlighting Newmarkets gallops, and again this past Saturday morning, Dubai Honour bolted up down under, beating Australia’s best. A great training feat from Newmarket legend William Haggas and another HQ international winner. This is the place to have your horse trained and we have space for more horses. Get in touch.
Next week brings the first Breeze Up Sale at Newmarket for the year and our team will be there, so join us at Tattersalls and our team will take care of you.
Catch My Tail, our greyhound owned by Catch Us If You Can Racing ran a cracker last night. First time out and he ran a blinding 2nd. We got involved in a greyhound to enhance the syndicates experience and we have had so much fun thus far. Lots of exciting races to come from “Buddy”.
To close today; “Don’t look back, you’re not going that way…”
