Good Monday Morning

A thought to get the week started; “Surround yourself with people who fight for you in rooms you aren’t in!”

We had the most wonderful Open Day at the yard on Sunday in beautiful sunshine. The turnout was fantastic and we had people in and out through the gates all day. The horses received loads of attention as did “Buddy” our greyhound who won just last Friday. Lots of fun was had by all and we look forward to hosting you all again at The Henry Cecil Open Day later this year. Andrew O’Connor and Lauren Rounce from Catch Us If You Can Racing, Jordan Hopkins and John Nel from Quest Thoroughbreds, Michelle Fernandez who is an absolute star, Luiz and Jenniffer Cunha all made the day really special and I’m so thankful for their help. Our owners and all the new visitors made it a perfect day.

We have Silver Sword running at Southwell on Tuesday and Faro De San Juan running at Newbury on Friday this week. Kyle Strydom takes the ride on both.

It was good to see Greg Cheyne winning on his first ride in the UK at Yarmouth on Saturday. Greg was a top jockey in South Africa and it continues to show that if we get the support in the UK, we can do the job.

Grand National
The ill informed protestors at Saturday’sGrand National failed miserably in their aim of stopping the race .  The police, security team and locals combined to thwart the protesters & the race was run albeit nearly 15 minutes late . It may well be the protesters contributed to the uncharacteristic almost chaotic start - the participants ( horses & jockeys ) did not appear to have their usual pre race routine . As regular readers of my Blog will be aware our stable is an open house and we would be more than happy to show these ignorant protesters how well thoroughbreds are looked after . Just what they hope to achieve is beyond me as the thoroughbred is a finally tuned species bred to race . Without racing these horses would simply not exist . The race itself was another great advert for syndicates - the winner Corach Rambler is owned by The Ramblers consisting of 7 members paying about £300 monthly . Congratulations to all concerned who helped get Corach Rambler to Aintree.. With The Breeze Up season about to start now is a good time to remind you to join us . I’m not saying we’ll win you a National but we could well have a winner at one of the Flat Festivals such as at York’s Ebor Meeting or Royal Ascot . We just need your support and the results will flow .

Talking about support and sales, we are heading to the breeze ups this morning at the Rowley Mile and our team will be at Tattersalls on Tuesday and Wednesday, so get in touch and get involved.

Our pedigree expert Luiz Cunha @pedigree_to_win has a worldly knowledge, understanding and experience in the science and biology of racehorse pedigrees with the ability to candidly recognise true value and eliminate costly mistakes, an ability very few can do.

As a real living current example, I look at how he helped me build up my yard from scratch in a tough racing environment. The first two yearlings he helped me acquire, Expressionless (£5000) and Silver Sword (£11000) are both progressive and certain value at their prices. In the subsequent yearling crop (2021) he again selected several more yearlings at real value, some of which are already showing above average ability.

Historically from a very small operation he bred, selected and recommended multiple group 1 winners and other group and stakes performers.

The magic continues and it’s available to our clients at no cost. For those wishing to race at value and have a realistic chance at glory, come and see us at the sales and become part of a winning team.

We look forward to you supporting us in the future.

To close out today, two thoughts after this last weekend in particular; “think, while it’s still legal…and…just because you are offended, doesn’t mean you’re right!”
