Blog Five - Monday 04/04/2022

As I write this blog and go through my thoughts for the week after Sunday morning stables, I come across some wonderful advice from the hilarious and great Caleb Cooper; “Dreams Don’t Work Unless You Do” … that should set the tone for a new week, Happy Monday!

Well that brings me to this past week and the weather has been somewhat confusing to say the least! We’ve had snow, rain, sleet, sunshine, wind, no wind, frost… and that is literally all between first lot and second lot. I’ve taken photos of white icy hills shadowed by dark clouds and not too long later, I’ve taken photos of Newmarket’s beautiful green grass with bright sunshine and clear skies only to be snowed on during the walk back home again and so it went all week. The funny part is that -2’c in April doesn’t feel as cold as -2’c in January 😂🤷‍♂️! Whatever the weather is, Newmarket is a beautiful place with all the horses around.

Our horses are doing well and we have had a good base-fitness-building preparation for them over the past 3 months. It’s a pity we only have a handful of bullets to fire and not much support but hopefully this will change soon. We have happy horses, a happy team and we are working hard to get that first runner ready to run.

It’s sales time again and we will be trying to purchase from the breeze up sales and the horses in training sales so contact us now and join our team.

Look out for various syndicates as well as a racing club that we are in the process of setting up as well.

We are also planning a open day incorporating a traditional South African Braai at the yard once it warms up a little and look forward to you joining us. Look out for dates in the near future.

It was great to see Do Your Job winning this weekend at Ayr and his owner willing to take the world on. It was so exciting and refreshing to watch and sent me to afternoon stables feeling motivated and with a big smile on my face. Take them on and be scared of no one.

Jump racing slows down after this weekends Grand National and my personal fancy for the big one is Secret Reprieve at a big price. It’s some spectacle and I look forward to watching it and getting back to the flat season after this week. I’ll be trying to find out a little more about the Craven meeting runners for next weeks blog from all the experts I’m surrounded by. Standby for more flat advice next Monday..

I leave you until the next blog with a lovely thought for the week - “Two feet move your body; four feet move your soul” 🏇🥰
