Good Morning

No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and fight for your dreams… that brings me to Mondays blog;

I love Mondays for one reason, it’s the day you’ve got to show what you’re made of and give your all and you’ve got to get back up and fight and face the week ahead. For us it’s currently a fairly tough situation as we have no support at all at this stage, but we are getting some enquiries and hoping that we get some support and people join our hard working fun team with proven Gr 1 success. Every trainer needs horses to compete and show what they are made of and we are certainly no different. We are open for business, come and join us! It reminds me of when I run a ultra marathon, and sometimes during the 100km (62 miles) or 11 or so hours you feel like the task is impossible but you just keep putting one foot in front of the other and before you know it, you’re there.

Last week we had Mr Fayez run twice. He ran a lovely 2nd at Brighton beaten by a 10 time winner only receiving a pound. This is extremely frustrating as we are now a 13 raced maiden and I have been pleading to get him dropped quicker. I understand he ran well but what chance does he have against a 10 time winner at those weights and also he only beat a 48 rated horse into third which is exactly what happened last week at Lingfield as well. Had Mr Fayez had a lower rating by now, he could have the chance to win and climb back up the handicap but he keeps finding these well handicapped winners of many races, yet he slowly comes down in rating and struggles as a maiden. Anyway, rant off. We then went to Doncaster and raced in a 18 runner field and finished midfield beaten around 7 lengths. Again loads of winners in front of us while our maiden tries his heart out. He was really above himself on Saturday as all the Jubilee celebrations in Newmarket on Friday night had kept him up and box walking, he is a highly strung horse and this didn’t help him. He pulled up so well and never left a cube, oat or hay and drank 2 buckets of water, so all being well this week, he may go to Leicester on Saturday night for a race as we are due rain all week and I think he will love it. Overall a good start to our only runner to run in the UK but we really need a few more horses and owners.

Racecourses in general take a lot of flack for their facilities but I must say, Doncaster Racecourse offer world class facilities for owners and I’m surprised more owners don’t run there. They really go out of their way to accommodate you and provide the best lunch I’ve had at a UK racecourse thus far. A big kudos to Donny!

Watching the Royal Family and Platinum Jubilee Celebrations, it is such an honour and pleasure to live and train in the UK. The Queen, Her Majesty is such an international icon and calming influence on the nation. Oh how we love and need her. The coming together and celebrations were magnificent and great to be part of.

How unlucky was Emily UpJohn? A game win by Tuesday and well done to Coolmore. Hollie Doyle also rode a great race into 3rd.

Desert Crown was a dream win for Sir Michael Stoute and Richard Kingscote. I have been lucky enough to see him most days and absolutely love him. He is a big calm horse who walks like he knows he is good. Kerry who works for Sir Michael is always at the bottom of Warren Hill, making sure he gets a clear path and I’ve been watching their attention to detail and his great work rider and the lead horse and his rider - it’s perfection personified. It’s honestly something magical to watch this horse and well done to the team and lovely to have another Derby winner trained in Newmarket where we have the best facilities in the world to train race horses. As I’ve said before, Sir Michael Stoute has the smallest string he has had in years and yet the strongest he has had in years. This just validates my banging my head to restrict numbers and keep the game competitive and racing with big fields. The cream will still always rise to the top.

The Goffs London sale is coming up as well as the Tattersalls July Sale and our team will be there in full swing and working hard to find us more horses. We really need more support so make contact and join us. The catalogues for both sales come out this morning. Exciting times. Join the fun.

I close todays blog with one of my favourite old sayings that’s always got me through some tough times in life.. “if you’re gonna fight, fight like you’re the third monkey on the ramp to Noah’s Ark. …and brother it’s starting to rain!”

Until next week, stay up to date daily on our social media platforms.
