Good Monday Morning (well evening now),

“Two out of three ain’t bad” … It was a fantastic week for us again, but first….

As always, a thought to start the week; “Strong men create easy times. Easy times create weak men. Weak men create tough times!”

Back to our past week… we had 2 winners from 3 runners this week, including an Epsom winner which was huge for us and a dream come true. Expressionless raced in his usual manner coming from last to run them all down at Epsom in great style. For a small yard this meant the world, but for a few South African lads who’ve grown up watching the Derby and Epsom, it was surreal. We turned up to Epsom with a £5k horse and walking into the winners enclosure was a memory all of us will forever cherish. When Kyle, John and myself looked up into the packed grandstand, where every Derby winner has walked into, I couldn’t help but kneel down and kiss the turf. It was a fantastic experience and hopefully we will have a Derby runner in the future.
Gold Medal then followed up in his usual breathtaking fashion, flying home between runners at Lingfield to win going away. He’s been a pleasure to train so far and is now 2/2 for us and looks to be a lot of fun.
Mr Fayez our old faithful ran another really good 4th at Yarmouth and will hopefully be winning a race soon. He’s really done the stable proud carrying the flag all year last year for us and run two good 4th’s this year so far.

The most worrying part of this last week and the state of affairs in British Racing, is that besides having a really good time, not much has happened in terms of new owners and horses, but, I’ve had 3 separate enquiries from Australia, 1 from Hong Kong and 1 from America, trying to purchase the horses who’ve run well. This is not good for British Racing and another clear sign that prize money and the state of affairs need desperate looking at. It’s the greatest racing in the world for now, and a real fight is needed to keep it that way!!!!

For a small yard we have phenomenal statistics for 2023 showing the hard work, knowledge and dedication of our team. From buying the right horses at value, to planning and preparing them, we have had 5 winners from 12 runners giving us a 42% win strike rate for 2023 so far. Of the 12 runners, only one has run out of the first 4 placings.

We have no runners this week but plan to have Confederation back at Windsor next Monday for Catch Us If You Can Racing.

Last week our expert team @pedigree_to_win Luiz Cunha and Jordan Hopkins Bloodstock purchased another lovely colt by Havana Grey at The Goffs Breeze Up Sale. They are a great team and will be at The Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up Sale this week. Get in touch with them and be part of our vision and future. There’s lots of success and fun to be had.

This week is Guineas weekend at HQ and my personal fancies for the Guineas are, in the 2000 I like Auguste Rodin and Sakheer. Both horse look to be really good and I think you’ll hear a lot about them over the summer. In the 1000, I only like Remarquee. She won a good trial with a bit in hand after the jockey dropped his whip and I feel with that experience she will improve and be hard to beat.

It really is a beautiful time of the year at HQ and if you’re in town for the Guineas or feel like a morning of fresh air and horses, do take a trip and come and visit us.
