Good Monday Morning
A thought to start the week; “Everything you want is on the other side of fear!”
We had another winner last Tuesday with Silver Sword winning a really good race at Southwell. He’s been a challenge for the team, having refused to race twice. We worked really hard on him in many ways, which included schooling him over hurdles and this really changed his mind and did the job. We also did a lot of stalls work with him. He’s now forward going and has run 3 good runs finishing 5-2-1 and we are hoping he goes on to be a decent horse. He looks set for the London Gold Cup at Newbury all being well 20 May 2023. It’s been some achievement from the team getting him racing after those first 2 starts and testament to the work we are doing. Top team!
We have 3 intended runners this week. Mr Fayez heads to Yarmouth on Tuesday with Greg Cheyne riding him. Expressionless heads to Epsom on Tuesday with Kyle Strydom riding him. Gold Medal heads to Lingfield on Wednesday with Harry Burns riding him. It’s a busy week for us considering we only have a handful of horses racing at the moment, but they are running well and we wish them all a safe, sound run and trip to and from racing.
Our sales team had a really good Craven Breeze Up Sale where Luiz Cunha @pedigree_to_win and Jordan Hopkins Bloodstock managed to secure 2 really smart horses at value for money as usual. We came home with a Ten Sovereigns colt and Havana Grey colt, both smart types and well purchased. The same team are already in Doncaster for the Breeze Ups this morning and will be looking for more value for you, tomorrow at the Doncaster Breeze Up Sale. Get in touch and register your interest. We work hard at every aspect of our business trying to find excellence for our clients and give you the best racing experience possible.
On Sunday we hosted Debbie (who brought up Barney and gave him a chance at life) GoRacingGreen as well as Sandy Clarke and Bev Coult who brought Confederation birthday treats. It was great for Barney to reunite with Debbie again and he recognized her and laid on her hand as he did as a kitten. Barney is now the honorary assistant trainer and runs the house. He is the big boss. Debbie sponsored by UNIBET runs and provides a fantastic service, much needed in racing. Check out #GoRacingGreen. Interestingly Debbie and Sandy were our first visitors in March 2022 when we started out with only 3 horses and it’s amazing how much has happened in just over a year. It was a lovely Sunday morning.
Our syndicate Catch Us If You Can has had great fun with our Greyhound Catch My Tail, affectionately known as Buddy. He ran 2nd and then won last Friday, then visited our yard for the Open Day and bolted up on Friday again. He’s as game, tough and competitive as they come and we are having so much fun with him.
It was a week of Guineas trial and the only one I was really impressed with was Remarquee. I think she will win the 1000 Guineas and go on to be a top class filly. The colts have left me thinking that something from Ireland will come and win. Adian O’Brien will have something more impressive than what I feel we saw last week. It makes an interesting Guineas weekend ahead come 6/7th May. It’s also the Kings Coronation weekend so be sure to get yourself to HQ for this fantastic race-meeting.
It’s interesting to see Hong Kong raise their prize money by $95 million. Let’s hope the British Horse Racing Authorities are noting this and working in the background to improve prize money here in the UK as well?!
To close this weeks blog; “There are people that will never support you because it’s you. Then there are people that will always support you because it’s you. You just have to find your people!”
