Blog Sixty-three

Good Monday Morning

To start this spring Monday on a positive note and get you out on this Monday morning, here’s a thought; “In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.”

That rings so true, there’s not better time to get up and outside. Yesterday, after a dreadful day at racing on Saturday where it all went against us, I was up and at the yard at 5am, feeding, putting bales of shavings out, getting horses on the walker and in the paddock and getting the runners out, followed by a full morning of owners visiting and all the other things that go with running a yard. I spent the Sunday afternoon working with the chiropractor and running the yard again. What a day. After a bad day the day before, I had a productive busy Sunday and I came home smelling like dirt, in time to write this blog, but fresh, happy, feeling powerful and energized by forcing myself to get up and get things done, even when completely mentally and emotionally flattened. In the words of Tristan Tate; “Life is a storm, my young friend. You will bask in the sunlight one moment, be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes. You must look into that storm and shout. Do your worst, for I will do mine!”

This week we have our yard faithful Mr Fayez running at Brighton, the racecourse which he has runs his best races for us at. He’s run two decent 4’ths from two starts this year and I hope he runs another good race. He is basically the lead horse for the babies at home and through the stalls. Kyle Strydom takes the ride.

SkySportsRacing better known as Attheraces visited our yard about 10 days ago and the 10 minute show will be aired today, Monday 22 May 2023 at 10:15am and repeated a few times during the week. I will have a link to the show and post it on social media, for those wanting to watch it.

It was great to see Modern Games win the Lockinge on Saturday. He is one of those horses with a phenomenal race record and doesn’t get the credit he deserves. He’s a true miler champions. He goes all around the world and just puts his best foot forward from 2-3-4 years old. What a horse and I hope to see more hype and coverage about, over this star racehorse who we hardly hear about. He’s a pleasure to watch, as game as they come and has some serious world class Mile Gr1’s on his CV.

I am joining our sales team @pedigree_to_win Luiz Cunha and Jordan Hopkins Bloodstock in Ireland this coming Thursday and Friday for the Tattersalls Goresbridge Breeze Up Sale, where we hope to find some value for you again. The work has long begun on the catalogue and we look forward to the sale. Contact us in advance if you’re interested in a racehorse ready to rumble from Ireland.

Catch Us If You Can Racing has shares available in Ozzie, a colt by Australia out of Yeah Baby by Danehill Dancer. He is really forward going and will run in 6-8 weeks time. Contact Andrew and get involved in this lovely colt and join the fun of the syndicate and interacting with other members, where there is already over 60% of him sold out.

As an Arsenal fan, we won’t talk any football this week, but well done to all the Man City supporters.

We have a really good team working with us to look after all your needs. From picking horses on pedigree and form, we have Luiz Cunha @pedigree_to_win and Jordan Hopkins Bloodstock, who both leave no stone unturned in finding value and also taking care of after sales service. We have John Nel and Andrew O’Connor who run Quest Thoroughbreds and Catch Us If You Can Racing so well. They make sure everything is in order from every aspect and make sure everyone gets a raceday badge. They really both enhance the ownership experience for you. We have a great team of experienced staff in the yard, some of the best lads in the world working for us. We have a great team of vets and farriers. Our jockeys are world class. There is a lot of positive and exciting times to look forward to and our future is bright, but we need your support. We are grateful and thankful to all our owners and we hope you join us in the fun and into the future. We have space for more horses and are buying more horses regularly at the sales. Our yard has to be one of the most open, accommodating and transparent yards in the world, and I mean that in all seriousness! Get in touch with the our team or myself.

To close todays blog, remember; “Life is full of ups and downs. Without a down, up means nothing!”
