Blog Sixty-Two
Good Monday Morning
We finally had some sunshine again this week and with all the rain, Newmarket is looking almost fairytale like green. What a place to be!
To start todays blog with a thought, especially fitting for a Monday morning; “You must choose one of two pains..the pain of discipline or the pain of regret!”
On Saturday we had Gold Medsl running at Lingfield in a ITV race. It was great to experience and he ran so well, just making his move and getting into rhythm when he was cleaned up with interference. He was thankfully ok after the race and will be back.
Today Attheraces or SkySportsRacing release a 10 minute clip they filmed with us at the yard on Wednesday last week, so be sure to look out for it.
This week we have 4 possible runners, all being well. On Thursday Confederation runs at Newmarket. On Saturday we have Silver Sword in the London Gold Cup at Newbury as well as a race at Newmarket, so that’s still to be decided. Makuri makes her debut at Newmarket as well. In the evening we have Faro De San Juan heading to to Doncaster.
It was great to see the French Guineas winner was by Muharaar. We have a lovely filly by Muharaar, Empress Lulu owned by Catch Us If You Can Racing, who will be stepping out in the next 6-8 weeks.
On the subject of Catch Us If You Can Racing, we have a smart cold by Australia out of a Danehill Dancer mare with shares available in him. He’s really nice and I highly recommend you getting involved. Contact Andrew or myself now and get involved.
Our dog Catch My Tail aka Buddy, bolted up on Sunday night at Harlow. He’s been such fun to own and has even visited the yard for our Open Day last month. He’s now won 4/6 races and looks a really decent Greyhound. As part of the process, once he retires, he comes to live with me and will be visiting the yard daily. A true legend is Buddy!
Last week Jordan Hopkins Bloodstock and @pedigree_to_win Luiz Cunha went over to Deauville in France for the Arqana Breeze Up Sale. They did the hard yards and carefully selected a high quality shortlist as they usually do and once again struck and found value. They purchased a Bated Breath colt, and as I always say, they stole him. He was really well bought. Jordan has already sold a good bit in him, but contact him if you want a share, and fast, before it’s too late.
Our first 2 year old steps out on Saturday as I’ve said above and then we should have a few following on from that. We have a handful ready to rumble over the next few weeks all being well. It’s always an exciting time of the year for any yard.
Unfortunately Arsenal choked on me as usual, so there’s not much I can say about that, but, I am already looking forward to next season. May Leeds stay up for all my friends that are Leeds fans, that’s all I have to enjoy for the last couple of games, is to hope they get over the line.
Our growing yard is looking for a sponsor to partner with us and build our brands together going forward. There’s lots of branding opportunities and we are a yard heading in the right trajectory.
On a racing front, it’s currently Derby Trials and this week, UK racing heads to York for the Dante. It looks a strong Derby this year and the Dante is usually the last piece of the puzzle. I personally like Military Order for The Derby, who won the Lingfield Derby Trial on Saturday, but there’s lot of water to still flow under the bridge before the first Saturday in June at Epsom Downs.
To close today; “You can’t be everyone’s cup of tea, or you’d be a mug!”
