Good Monday Morning

We start this week on the amazing note that we have had our first winner in the UK, which brings me to my opening bit of motivation as usual…

Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity…

Back to our first winner… Mighty Mind.. it is a great relief to get that monkey off our back. That first winner was important after a lovely 4th with our first runner at Ascot. Mighty Mind came over to us in wonderful condition and the change of scenery and a few tweaks got him into good form, after also suffering a wasp sting which caused some serious swelling in his neck. Never plain sailing when training horses. There is always a surprise around the corner to bring you back to earth after a good day. It was a lovely performance and provided the handicapper isn’t too harsh, he should win again next time up as he seems to really be enjoying life. He came out of the race well and looks happy enough. Well done to his owners Amedeo Dal Pos and Federica “about to become Dal Pos” and thank you for your support. We had a lovely celebration with them afterwards, with a planned first winner party to come shortly. Our new clients who own Moliwood, The Sarkar family, also won the first race on the day with Senor Pockets, so we had double reason to have a bit of fun that evening at Chelmsford and the Wolf Pack Syndicate who are friends with the Sarkar family joined us. This is what racing is about and between us, we all really enjoyed the evening. You have to enjoy the good days to be able to handle the bad days. As the old saying goes, work hard, play harder. It must be said, all the team were bright and breezy the next morning for gallops as the sun rose. I have built up such a great little team and we look forward to more success together and hope you will join us and support us along the way. It’s sales season and we really need to grow now and stock up for the future. Support at the sales and with horses in training is much needed and our door is open to you. Come and join us..

I must praise Jason Watson who rode our first winner. The former champion jockey was so professional and rode 100% to instructions. His professionalism before and feedback after the race was really pleasing and it was such a lovely ride. Thank You Jason. I’m sure there will be many more winners between us together.

Our next runner is the wise Silver Sword this coming Saturday at Lingfield or Chelmsford. He shows a lot at home and has been really impressive, however, he refused to race last time. He jumped out the stalls and just said NO! We have had the whole team working on him and he has been jumping really well and going through with it, but it’s always a worry to see how they will behave on race day again. We will still do a bit more work on the stalls this week with him in lead up to the race and hope for a good run. Grace Mc Entee rides again as she has done some hard yards in the morning on Silver Sword and knows him well.

For anyone who didn’t watch Racing Debate on SkySportsRacing, I suggest you try and get a re run and watch it. Chris Wright, a entertainment legend, had some great ideas, and I really hope that racing pulls in the skill available to them to better the sport and to grow with the times which are constantly changing.

We head to York this week in the UK for the Juddmonte, Nunthorpe, Ebor, meeting with loads of other great races every single day and whilst I will be at the yard working hard, I’ll be sure to watch on my phone in between. My only hope for the week is that Baeed the champion wins and wins well. I can’t wait to watch this race and we are all in for a treat all week!

I thought I’d sneak another quick reminder, we have space for more horses and our team is ready to welcome you…

To close this weeks blog, I came across a short motivation from Sir Anthony Hopkins where he said; “Hang in there.. Today is the tomorrow you were so worried about yesterday, don’t give up, just keep fighting!”
