Good Monday Morning

A little Monday motivation to begin; success is not final, failure is not fatal…it’s the courage to continue that counts.

We start this week off the back of a lovely first run by our 2 year old Expressionless in the £100 000 Tattersalls Sales Race, but more on that later in the blog..

Starting up from scratch here has taken copious amounts of discipline, sacrifice, hard work and patience to progress. Things are slowly taking beginning to take shape but we are fully aware that the journey has just begun. We as a team are so hands on and in tune with our horses, the excitement and momentum is gaining traction.

This week brings us to the Tattersalls August Horses In Training Sale and next week the Tattersalls Sommerville Sale. We will be in attendance with our team looking for quality and value to continue building our string with the kind of horses we select. When I talk about seeking value for money at the sales, I have the combined support of racing form and breeding experts; Luiz Cunha @pedigree_to_win, Encyclopaedia Bob, Jamie Lloyd Meah-Lloyd Bloodstock and Jordan Hopkins. Together we select and analyse, walk the miles, and view every horse on our list to arrive at a final shortlist from which we buy. We minimise risk and look for value for our clients. Join us by getting involved in shares or whole ownership. We have many different options available.

Our own Racing Club (we’ve had to go it alone as no racing clubs/syndicates have come forward with any support as yet) is almost set up and be sure to look out for details of the launch in the first week of September.

Back to Expressionless… we purchased 1 horse from the Tattersalls Sommerville Sale last year for £5000 and that was Expressionless who looks a classy sort, especially when he goes further and grows into himself next year. He was the one we wanted, it had nothing to do with price, he was our only selection on the sale with a limited budget to start. He didn’t have a prep run or even a grass gallop as we haven’t had any grass due the extreme heat and drought so he went straight from the all weather surfaces as the only first timer in the field and ran a huge race coming from last to run 9th only beaten 6 lengths and earned 20% of his purchase price in Prize Money at the same time. He was back in his box eating up 40 minutes later, that’s the benefit of running a horse at Newmarket that is trained in Newmarket. I always place the Welfare of the horses first, and with the persistent drought, waited patiently with him, he is definitely one to follow. He came out of the race really well and we couldn’t be happier.

I’ll causally slip this in here….we still aren’t talking cricket!

We have no runners this week, but next week Thursday, we may have Mighty Mind at Chelmsford in the same sort of race he won and on the Friday Moliwood at Doncaster in the Mallard Handicap. Both are doing well and will have a good workout later this week to confirm their well being and whether they run. Mr Fayez has been trotting for a week after being turned out for 4 weeks and starts his cantering today again. The hard work continues with Silver Sword who is mighty talented. The whole team is doing all they can to get into his mind and get him racing so we hope he will be out soon again.

For a small yard with 5 horses, we have had 14 runs in the UK, have had our first winner, run 4th in the Shergar Cup at Ascot, had a £100k Sales Race runner who ran huge and into prize money, set up for a few more winners and earned prize money in 10 of those 14 starts. Small gains, small steps but I think we are slowly proving we can do it here in the UK, but need support to keep growing and keep the momentum building. Get in touch.

To close today, a thought; put your best effort towards your best opportunities, not your biggest problems.

Until next week, stay in touch and updated daily, following our social media.
