Good Morning
Another Monday and always my favourite day to get stuck in and get set the tone for the new week. I’m lucky to do something I love and I’m passionate about. As Warren Buffet said, without passion, you don’t have the energy. Without energy, you have nothing!
Our runner Mr Fayez ran another honest race for us, finishing 3rd again at Great Yarmouth last week. He got a fairly bad cut in running so all things considered it was a great run. He has now earned prize money 6 times from 7 starts for us and his earnings are twice what we paid for him. I know I say it often, but, he is a real soldier and stable star for us, flying the flag weekly and taking all the weight of being our only horse to race so far in the UK.
The Eclipse was a great race to watch at Sandown and Vadeni was super impressive. I enjoyed seeing Mishriff show that class is permanent and what a race the King George & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes is lining up to be, as well as the Juddmonte International. Besides that Alpanista won a lovely race in France and last years Arc winner also won in Germany and along with the top 3 year olds, I think this years Prix De Le Arc De Triomphe could turn out to be one of the greatest ever, although it’s always a great race.
Sales time, this week is the Tattersalls July Sale in Newmarket. We have shortlisted 28 lots which will be further shortlisted by Tuesday evening once we have seen all the horses and will be buying a few to relieve Mr Fayez of all the pressure he carries and to continue building the yard. We have kindly been supported by some new owners and will be buying with them as well as then buying some to syndicate ourselves. We need support over here in the UK and look forward to you joining us. Please get in contact and also look out for us advertising shares for sale. We have some exciting and innovative ownership plans ahead. We are putting the hard yards in and look forward to the future. It’s exciting and we are slowly building brick by brick to our big plans we have for the future. Exciting times.
There is also some great racing at HQ this week culminating with the July Cup which is always a great Gr1. I’ll definitely try and make a day or two at the races but with the sales and being so hands on at the yard, it’s not always easy to get away.
There has been some interesting riding incidents this season in the UK and lots of opinions on social media, especially regarding the stewarding. I’m not going to say much, but, what I will say is, I hope racing doesn’t become ruled by social media. English racing has always been competitive and rough with no inch given and I hope it stays that way. That is the reason they are the worlds best jockeys here, it’s competitive and as an industry we need to hope we can keep it like that. I’m all for safety but we need to be careful about going to woke in the riding department.
As I touched on last week, I’ll be riding the 24 hour cycle challenge for racing welfare. Please check out my Just Giving Page, pinned on Twitter and donate to this great cause if you can. Thank You.
To close today; before you go to sleep tonight I want you to remember that an entire sea of water can’t sink a ship, unless it gets inside the ship. Similarly, the negativity of the world can’t get you down, unless you allow it to get inside your head.
Until next week, we hope to see you at the sales and stay updated following our social media.
