Good Monday Morning

As always a thought to start; “even if you are not ready for the day, it cannot always be night!”

As most of you know by now or sadly watched it happen, we tragically lost Mighty Mind on Saturday night at Chelmsford Racecourse. He was a sound horse who was so well cared for, so this came as a complete surprise and shock to us. It looked as though he took a bad step around the bend and unfortunately broke his front leg. This is the first time we have ever experienced this! We are all completely heart broken and devastated. Mighty Mind was our first winner in the UK and he was a gentlemen in the yard that even the kids used to ride from time to time. My heartfelt condolences go out to Amedeo and Federica who loved him dearly. He was their child. It’s deeply painful to bring back the horse box with an empty spot and then to get back to the yard late at night to a beautifully made up stable that is now empty. Rest In Peace our beautiful Mighty Mind, we will always remember and miss you!

The outpouring of love and care from social media and private messages has been overwhelming and I thank you all. It means a lot. Thank You so much for all your kind words, all of you.

Earlier in the day we had Moliwood run a really good and game race in the Cesarawitch. It was a honour to have a runner in our first season in such a prestigious race and he ran really well. He went to the front and led which wasn’t the plan, but the it was the way it worked out from a wide draw and was holding on gamely until he was completely wiped out and then he stopped after losing momentum. Both the jockey and myself were really happy with that and I feel we could’ve been top 8 had he stayed in rhythm being a big stayer. We were happy and proud of his performance and look forward to more good days with Moliwood.

Mr Fayez needed his run back and hopefully the handicapper drops him a few more pounds. He is what he is, a small honest little low rated horse who has flown the flag for us and he will be fun during the winter.

Earlier in the week Expressionless ran a good third at Brighton. He scoped dirty after the race but ran really well as they sprinted away down the hill at Brighton but he managed to peg them back for a good third place and will still be a lot of fun for us going forward.

We took Silver Sword to Newmarket Racing on Friday for a stalls test just before racing started, where he passed with flying colours and we hope he doesn’t refuse to race next time he runs as he does not do it in training.

This past week took the wind out of our sails but that’s racing and we are up and fighting back on this Monday morning and we need your support going forward. We have shares available in Confederation who will run later this month and Empress Lulu, a lovely yearling filly with Catch Us If You Can Racing and we have shares available in two lovely yearling fillies by Magna Grecia and Gleneagles with Quest Thoroughbreds. All our yearlings are broken in now and trotting in our trotting and schooling arena at the yard.

We are also going to be at Tattersalls Book 3 stocking up for the future. Support us and join us at the sales. Our team needs your support in the UK to keep building our yard.

On Friday, Great British Racing International invited me for lunch at Newmarket Racing and I was lucky enough to be seated next to Steve Cauthen. We had a great chat all afternoon and it was an honour to listen to all the wonderful memories and stories. To understand what a champion he is, he took my number and at 4:45am the next morning sent me a WhatsApp message wishing me all the best for the Cesarawitch. What a privilege it was to spend the afternoon with him and thank you to GBRI who are doing wonderful initiatives to promote racing in the UK and have the most passionate team behind the scenes really working hard to promote our racing.

This coming weekend is Champions Day at Ascot. Baaeed bows out and I hope to see him win by a furlong. He is the best and in my opinion still getting better so I can’t wait to watch him blow them away and retire to stud. He is an exciting future stallion for UK breeders. It’s a great raceday and I can’t wait for it!

To close todays blog remember; “ it’s all going to be fine in the end..if it’s not fine, it’s not the end!”
